Relationship With Local Communities

Local Communities - A reflection

Today, we honour our relationship with our local communities. Our local communities are as dependent on us as we in them. We are all connected; there is no separation. If we are well, we are improving the community. And if the community is well, we can have more peace of mind. Healthy communities enjoy a variety of people, businesses, professionals, traders, students, families, services, care providers, and more. We are all critical, and our actions impact each other.

Community?

It is hard to talk about communities because they are so dynamic. However, the point is that supporting and getting involved in our local communities is essential. At Embracce, we have talked so much about the community that, at this point, it feels rhetorical. We have a million things to consider, including responsibilities and demands that slowly consume our time and mental space. If we ask you to participate in your community more, you might respond with: “With what time?”. We can’t solve that part of the individual equation. However, we can tell you that it is easier than we think and more important than it feels.

How?

It is easy because we usually do it by default. If we consume, buy, and hang out locally, we are already actively participating in our community. By being patient and kind to each other, we are already cultivating positive community dynamics. That is the easy part. The part that needs more commitment involves reading your local newspaper to stay up with the positives and public notices that invite us to give our opinion and participate in the design and creation of our local communities. It involves volunteering time to social endeavours, including hobbies and interest groups that help feed the collective sense of belonging, identity and stewardship.

Local for the sake of Regional and Global

Cultivating and thinking about our relationship with our local community as necessary helps the local, regional and global community in the long run. We take responsibility for our local resources to care for regional and global resources – which heavily impact our daily lives. In the long term, paying attention to our local production and residue is the best way to care for and create a positive global impact. Suppose multiple communities act positively and cultivate good community dynamics based on tolerance, patience, and honest commitment. Suddenly, we have regional net positive creation, which is a big step in achieving positive global creation. In other words, we take on local costs for the sake of global costs. It is true in business, our homes, workplaces, and all other relationships. We delay our immediate satisfaction for the sake of future happiness.

Like other reflections from our Feb_Series, you can find ways to tend to and consciously cultivate your relationship with your local community. This reflection aims to heighten our local community values and invite us to grow our relationship with our local community in ways that suit us and our interests.

Spread the word in your local community about the value of this relationship!
